Chigurh vs. Vincent

Welcome to the very first edition of Super Match!

First match goes to the cold-blooded Anton Chigurh and tactical Vincent.

Bios (taken from Wikipedia):

Vincent

  • Is a hired assassin sent to Los Angeles to eliminate five witnesses in an unspecified criminal case. During the film, little is learned of Vincent's past or personal life.
  • At some point during his life, Vincent acquired the skills of an efficient professional killer.
  • Though neither the audience nor any character in the film learns how Vincent became an assassin, it's obvious he has incredible skill and is a thoroughly dangerous man.
  • Vincent displays formidable close quarters combat abilities, blinding speed and impressive coordination. His actions appear instinctive, his movements economical and swift.
  • The only information he gives regarding his career experience is his admission to Max, "six years private sector".
  • Vincent is a man of action, thriving on spontaneity, constant change, and improvisation.

Anton Chigurh

  • An assassin hired to recover the drug money.
  • The character was a recurrence of the "Unstoppable Evil" archetype found in the Coen Brothers' work, though the brothers wanted to avoid one-dimensionality, particularly a comparison to The Terminator.
  • Anton Chigurh is an emotionless, compassionless killing machine.
  • His inability to comprehend human life is matched only by his ability to take it, as he does with ruthless abandon throughout the running of No Country For Old Men.
  • He carries a cattlegun, which fires a cylinder from a hose which is connected to a tank of compressed air to destroy cylinder locks and dispatch a host of victims. He also carries a silenced assault shotgun.
  • It is said that Anton Chigurh is now one of the most iconic villains of all time.

Anton Chigurh wins in my opinion. He has the makings of the perfect hitman... 0 remorse, 0 emotion, 0 attachments, 0 beliefs, and a sweet silencer equipped shotgun. Vincent has obvious marksmanship with the handgun, but to get outsmarted by a cabbie doesn't score any points with me. Scientology doesn't help too much either.

Anton is just brutal and fearless. Vincent can outsmart him in the end.
